Welcome to The Absorbent Mind

WHAT SETS THE ABSORBENT MIND APART

Walk into any learning environment and quietly observe. It won't take long to discover which children are thriving and which are struggling. The Absorbent Mind recognizes that every child wants to excel and provides the support and guidance they need to create successful learning outcomes for years to come. Our program is designed to support the child's current classroom experience at school each day and fosters skills and habits that build learning confidence. During twice weekly sessions at The Absorbent Mind, students will engage in independent work, small group activities, and receive structured one on one guidance with feedback. Depending on the area of support needed, students may focus solely on Math or Language/Writing, or work on both. On Saturdays, come join us for a big fun read aloud, with  guided or independent story mapping, finished with a craft. We help student strengthen Reading Comprehension skills, spark creativity, and build new friendships!  Let's face it, learning is simply more successful when students are engaged with peers and having fun! 

Why Hands on Learning

Over fifteen years of classroom teaching has shown us at The Absorbent Mind, that hands-on learning increases attention and focus, and allows students to learn through experience which deepens understanding. Hands-on learning also encourages students to put their newly acquired skills to use.

Why Social Emotional Strength

  Social emotional learning activates self awareness and can improve achievement, motivation, and perseverance.  Engaging in activities that model kindness, sharing, and empathy can improve student attitudes toward school and learning, and improve relationships with peers and adults.
